JUST ONE NIGHT...

That was all Holly Fitzgerald would allow herself with the tall, dark and brooding CFO Joe Barone. Winning Baronessa's Gelati's contest paled next to what she felt when the aloof Joe watched her with sexual desire blatant in his shrewd eyes.

While Holly had commitments, Joe had sophistication and wealth. He looked better in a business suit than any man had a right to. But his lover's touch freed her, and for the first time made her want something more. Like Cinderella, she'd forget the real world, forget caution and for once, she'd simply enjoy the fantasy. But as the clock neared twelve, Holly knew one night with Joe wouldn't be enough...

Reviews for CINDERELLA'S MILLIONAIRE...

The reader definitely will really enjoy this short romantic novel. I especially loved the honesty that pops right out of Holly’s mouth and the sexual innuendo’s from the handsome Italian stallion – Joe Barone who utters too much of his hidden desires before he has a chance to ‘put a lid on it.’ Being from New England, I loved all the references to our famous city of Boston as well! Short and sweet, sexy and sassy – what more could you ask for in a nice little sensual romance just perfect for a day at the beach!

Katherine Garbera writes touching scenes, fulfilling characters who grow a lot throughout this tale and the readers connect with them. CINDERELLA’S MILLIONAIRE is a sexy read where the love between the characters leaps off the pages and their desire for each other burn up the pages. I was reading this tale into the wee hours of the morning and had a grin from ear to ear after reading the last page.

Ms. Garbera is a talented author who draws her readers in and they even feel like one of the illustrious Barones. This is a charming and emotional addition to the DYNASTIES: THE BARONES series. These characters are phenomenal and so is Katherine Garbera. A book not to be missed AND a definite keeper!

Fun Facts about Cinderella's Millionaire...

  • I had a key scene in my book that took place at the Conti restaurant but at the copy edit stage, the editor told me Maureen Child had used that location a lot in her book and suggested I use another restaurant for my scene. So I asked my husband for suggestions and he put me in contact with a friend of his, Mike Loughran, who spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me, talking in a very nice Boston accent he suggested several restaurants to use. I chose Atlantic Fish Company.
  • The process of writing the book was fun as well because I got to work with so many wonderful authors. But also because my hero is part of a large Italian family very similar to my own--except we're not wealthy!! I knew how Joe would look to Holly from outside the family and how his family would seem to her. I really enjoyed writing this book.

"Joseph Barone, you gave me a priceless gift and I wasn't worthy of it. But I ask you to reconsider." She smiled at him tentatively. "I love you," she said, tears in her eyes.

He reached out to cup her face in his hands. "I love you too, " he said at last.

"I... Will you marry me?" she asked, holding up a small jewelry box.

"Hell, yes." He scooped her off her feet and carried her into the house.

She wrapped her arms around his neck as he bounded up the steps, then laid her on the center of his bed. He pushed off his jeans and briefs in one quick moment, then moved to cover her.

"Don't you want to know what changed my mind?" she asked, wrapping her arms around his shoulders.

"Later," he said, testing her and finding her wet and ready for his possession.

He thrust into her body, slid his arms up under her legs, folding them gently back toward her body. She moaned a deep husky sound that he'd die remembering and met him thrust for thrust.

Only when they were both shuddering with completion could he begin to think about their future. He knew he wasn't going to be able to wait long for a wedding.

He rolled off of her and cuddled her against him. "I'm never letting you go."

"Me neither," she said.

"I want to get married right away." Life had taught him to grasp the things he wanted and hold them close.

She nodded. "My dad and brothers have to be there."

"I want to meet them."

"They want to meet you too. I'm sorry I kept you from knowing them. I was afraid I couldn't have you and them."

"Why?"

"Love is a huge responsibility."

"Not always. Love is sharing."

"I didn't know that until I met you."

She raised herself up on her elbow and kissed him. He knew she meant the embrace to be a soft, caring one, but he'd been denied her for too long and lust reawakened in him.

"Are we done talking?" he asked.

"Why?"

He took her hand and guided it to his erection. "As long as I know you love me, everything will be fine."

Everything was fine. He made love to her all night and called in sick to work in the morning. He'd finally found the one woman he'd been searching for.

Epilogue

Their wedding day dawned bright and sunny. It seemed crazy but only three days had passed since she'd visited Joe's house and asked him to marry her. But he didn't want to wait another minute to start their life as man and wife.

Holly watched nervously from Joe's bedroom window as his family, her family and their friends gathered around the pool.

She'd have felt a lot better if her mom were with her today. But this morning her father had given her the rose-charm necklace that her mother had worn every day. She'd been so touched to have something of her mother's on her neck.

They'd asked Gina to be maid of honor, and Nick was standing up for Joe.

"Ready, Holly?" her dad asked from the doorway.

"Yes," she said, hurrying to his side.

She walked down the stairs and out onto the deck where Joe waited. He smiled at her and she felt her heart stop. She'd never expected love to feel like this. She'd never expected Mr. Right to look like him. She'd never dreamed happily-ever-after was in the cards for her.

But now she knew it was her destiny. The fate that Joe and she would make together.

She walked to him on a cloud of feeling and exchanged vows in a haze. The only part she was truly aware of was when he lowered his head to kiss her.

"You're mine," he said.

"And you are mine."

Their families and friends clapped and cheered. Holly was aware that she'd found the one man she'd spent her life searching for.... Well, maybe he'd found her.

Cinderella's Millionaire"What do you normally do?" he asked.

"I'm a pastry chef. In fact, I was at work this morning before I came down here."

"You must really love cooking," he said. Though his family had made its name in the gelato business Joe had never taken to cooking. He could heat frozen dinners and re-heat the casseroles that his mom sometimes sent to her kids' houses. But beyond that he wasn't even interested in trying.

She stepped closer to him. It was time to end this conversation and get on with the rest of the day's activities. As soon as she answered, he'd say something vague and move away from her.

"I do. It's the only place where I'm totally in control. Totally alone. There's a...peace to it."

"Why aren't you ever alone?" he asked.

"Family," she said. That one word summed up the way he felt about his sometimes.

He patted her shoulder trying for a brotherly touch, but knew he failed. Her arm under his hand was soft and he couldn't help sliding his hand down to her tiny wrist. She wore a charm bracelet there with a tiny gold rolling pin on it. "I know what you mean."

Who had given her the bracelet? A lover? Jealousy took him by surprise and he ran his finger under the fine gold chain, resting his finger on her pulse. It threaded steadily.

"Joe?"

Ah, hell, he thought. He knew better. Why was he even looking at her this way? "Did a man give you this?"

"Yes," she said, huskily.

"A lover?"

Her pulse doubled. "No."

Her pupils had dilated and he saw more than awareness in them. He saw the same hunger that was coursing through his veins. Her lips parted and the air around them seemed to stop moving. He leaned forward. "Would anyone object if I kissed you?"

Cinderella's Millionaire"Are you going to kiss me?" she asked.

"Yes."

"There's no man in my life," she said. Holly watched him with feminine speculation in her eyes and he knew he'd never be the same.
