I love this time of year. There’s something about baking everything apple, sneaking pumpkin spice into my coffee and tea, and watching the nights draw in that makes my soul glow.

When I was writing this book, I wanted to capture all the feelings I love most about autumn—the cozy small-town vibes, slightly spooky (but never scary) houses, and of course, dipping a toe into the paranormal…well, one kind of paranormal: ghosts!

I’ve always been fascinated by the occult, but never in a threatening way. My vibe is more Wednesday or Chilling Adventures of Sabrina meets Practical Magic or Casper—and that’s exactly the energy I tried to bottle in Ghost of a Chance.

Captain Gregg from The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947). Rugged, witty, and impossible to ignore, he was the first time I realized spooky + romantic could be the perfect combo.
