Why I Love Writing Messy, Scandalous Romance

There’s something irresistible about a love story built on secrets.

The stolen moments. The undeniable chemistry. The lies that were never supposed to go too far. And, of course, the moment when everything falls apart.

That’s exactly what drew me to writing Her Deepest Secret.

This story starts with Scarlet O’Malley, a reality TV darling and heiress who has built her entire life around independence. She doesn’t do commitment. She doesn’t trust easily. And she definitely doesn’t believe in forever.

Then one unforgettable night changes everything.

When Scarlet discovers she’s pregnant, she’s determined to handle it the same way she handles everything else in her life: on her own, with no emotions involved.

But there’s one problem.

The man she thought she spent the night with wasn’t actually who he claimed to be.

Alec Velasquez never meant for the deception to go as far as it did. Fiercely loyal to his family and carrying more responsibility than anyone realizes, Alec was pretending to be his twin brother that night. He never expected Scarlet to become someone he couldn’t stop thinking about.

And he definitely never expected a baby.

What I love most about Scarlet and Alec’s story is that beneath all the scandal, secrets, and chemistry, this is really a story about trust.

Scarlet has spent her entire life protecting herself. Alec has spent his life carrying burdens for everyone else. They’re both used to hiding parts of who they are.

But when you’re building something real with another person, secrets have a way of demanding to be uncovered.

Her Deepest Secret has everything I love in a romance: mistaken identity, a surprise pregnancy, glamorous settings, family drama, emotional tension, and a hero who falls hard.

Most of all, it’s about two people who never expected to need each other—and finding out that love might be worth the risk after all.

Her Deepest Secret releases April 23, and I can’t wait to share more with you soon.

Because some secrets refuse to stay buried. Preorder your copy here.
