Winter Stories & Cozy Corners

There’s something about winter that makes the world feel both quiet and full of possibility. The air is crisp, the evenings long, and every little thing—the curl of steam from a mug, the soft glow of fairy lights in my window, the crunch of icy grass and fallen leaves—feels like it could be part of a story.
For me, winter is a season for reflection, imagination, and, honestly, a little mischief. Somehow it’s easier for dreams to melt into reality when the nights close in so early. It’s when I linger over cups of tea, pull an extra blanket over my shoulders, and let my mind wander through the worlds I’m writing—small towns, bookshops, bakeries, and yes, always a dangerously handsome hero.
But the magic isn’t just on the page. It’s also in the quiet connections we make—friends curled up with a book beside us, the way stories bring strangers together, and the little moments where life itself feels like a cozy plot twist. The adventures that await me every time I open a book. That chance to fall in love again when the main characters do reminds me of falling for my husband.
So here’s my thought: let’s make this a winter of community. I want to hear about your winter rituals and reading spots.
• Do you have a favorite cozy corner where the world melts away while you read?
Mine is on my bed with pillows piled high behind me, a cup of tea on the nightstand.
• Are you team blanket fort + fire, or window seat + steaming coffee?
Sadly I don’t have a fireplace, but I do put on the YouTube fireplace when I’m reading.
• Is there a book that always feels like a hug in the winter months?
For me it’s The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. I love taking some time to reconnect with my inner child and remind myself why I love writing.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite winter corners, my current reading stack, and little moments of inspiration from my own life in the UK. I’d love for you to share yours too—snap a picture, leave a comment, or reply to this blog. Let’s inspire each other to find the magic in winter, one cozy story at a time.
Don’t judge but I’m still reading my Christmas books. I ended up taking more time to be present with my family than reading over December.
Because while winter may be chilly outside, our stories—and our community—can make it feel warm inside. 💛
